The Scott Hush Air is a big pump.

 (The woman is normal size)

Scotts literature and catalog pictures do not show just how large the Scott Hush Air compressor pump actually is.  So we thought a real life picture taken in our back yard would shed some light on its actual size.

Its been said that "size doesn't matter".   Well I assure you, when talking about reciprocating air compressors, pistons, rings, rods and bearings, size means a world of difference.   This relative giant of a pump runs slow, quiet and cool and its slow speed (less friction) and all cast iron construction guarantees you a pump that will last a life time.

Some imported pumps run very fast to make up for their relative small size.  The higher the RPM the more noise, friction, heat and vibration.  Some brands are so loud they use foam insulated, sound attenuating enclosures just to comply with OSHA noise regulations.   Not the Hush Air, the Hush Air is so quiet... we offer an optional enclosure only so unauthorized people don't touch the compressor head.

This high quality pump delivers the most CFM (cubic feet per minute) per HP (Horsepower) of any competitive brand.  Which means it runs less to develop the same air.  Less running time + more air = lower electrical costs, lower repair costs and longer overall life.

The Scott Hush Air compressor and the Scott RevolveAir fill enclosure can be mounted together as one single unit or as separate components.  This is important if you are cramped for space.  The compressor, purifier and storage bottles can be installed in the basement, an out of the way mechanical room or ventilated closet and the fill enclosure can sit right on the apparatus floor where you fill your SCBA cylinders.   Prefer them together in one spot, they can mate up as a single unit.  This is an exceptional feature that adds flexibility and functionality to the Scott product.

Before you specify an SCBA refill system, ask yourself these few simple questions;

  • When specifying a quality SCBA refill system, is an appliance like appearance an important factor?

Yes, an attractive system is a very desirable feature, but not at the cost of quality.  A pretty refrigerator that screams when it starts, shakes when it runs and fails when you need it most is not very attractive.    The Scott Hush Air is clean looking, quiet running and will last a life time, because it is designed to.

  • Do you want a machine made of light stamped sheet steel, held together by carriage bolts?

Stamped steel can be very pretty and when coated with thick textured finishes, looks like a million bucks, but take a closer look inside, where it counts.   There is no welding or steel frame to give these units needed support.  The entire machine is held together with nothing but carriage bolts.  When their high speed compressor is operating, the sheet steel flexes putting stress on all the joints.  Doors sag, hinges bend and the internal glued on sound insulation starts to peal away.  When that happens, this type of machine quickly looses its appeal.

Scott products are built tough to last long.  Scotts frame work is made of high quality forged steel and welded to ASTM quality standards.   The hard glossy powder coat finish has no texture to catch oil and dirt so it is easy to keep clean and always looks attractive.    The Hush Air pump is slow speed and well balanced so there is virtually no vibration to shake it apart.   Designed to withstand years of abuse in the fire service industry, the Scott Hush Air looks good and lasts like a compressor should.

  • Do you want a unit that is only "mostly assembled" in the USA, so the manufacturer can claim they meet, "Made in USA" requirements?

Offshore manufacturers claim they meet "Made in USA" standards because the bulk of assembly is done here in the States and it just might be.  However, the heart of the imported brand machine is made overseas.  The pumps, gauges, valves, motors, controls and purifiers are manufactured in the country of origin.  In most cases replacement parts are readily available in this country, but in some cases they are not.  We have waited over 16 weeks for "in stock" proprietary parts to fly over the pond and pass through customs.  That is not acceptable in the fire service industry.

Scott products are manufactured right here in the USA, assuring replacement parts are here when you need them.  "In stock" means immediate delivery and stable prices do not fluctuate with the Euro.

  •  Do you want a machine whos manufacturer recommends a total pump overhaul every 500 Hours?

The heart of the Scott Hush air is the Ingersoll Rand Type-30 pump.  Its heavy duty, all cast iron, slow speed air compressor  will last a life time. It's designed that way.   We have units running over 20 years, operating flawlessly, just like the day they were installed.    You can spend a lot of money on a pretty refill system, but you will never buy a better, longer lasting air compressor than the Scott Hush Air..

Look at a Scott Hush Air before you specify a compressor system, you'll be glad you did.
